Mark James Wachtel

Mark James Wachtel, age 64, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully on August 21,2025, surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. Mark fought with strength, determination, and grace. He continued to work as long as he could because he did not like to stay still long.

Mark was born on November 15th, 1960, to Raymond and Ethel M. (Pries) Wachtel. He was a graduate of Two Rivers High School 1978. Mark had worked at Crescent Woolen Mills (Crescent Textile Solutions) as well as Pick N’ Save until he was not able to continue.

Mark is survived by his three sons: Nick (Sam) Wachtel, Andrew Wachtel and Brad (Jen) Wachtel; Grandchildren: Cambria Wachtel and Easton and Cooper Wachtel; Sister: Nancy (Mike) Olien; Brother Mike (Sharon) Schwantes.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Ethel M. Wachtel and Brother: Warren Schwantes

Cremation has occurred and a celebration of life will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in honor of Mark to the Gumby's Club for a Cure Foundation in Manitowoc and Pink Heels.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Aurora Oncology, donations from Gumby’s Club for a Cure Foundation and Pink Heels of Manitowoc and the nurses, CNAs, aids, and all other team members at the Jack & Engrid Meng Hospice Residence in De Pere, Wisconsin (Unity Hospice).
