Martin J. “Marty” Sheck, age 72 of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
Marty was born on August 21, 1951 a son of the late Martin A. and Betty B. (Krug) Sheck. He attended schools in Oconomowoc, graduating from Oconomowoc High School in 1970. Marty served his country from 1971-1975 in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Air Force, he moved to the Manitowoc area and completed welding certification classes at Lakeshore Technical College. Marty retired on December 31, 2020 from his maintenance position with the Doneff Companies LLC in Manitowoc, and prior to that he had been employed at Burger Boat Company for many years as a welder.
Marty is survived by two daughters: Kendra (Bobby) Dassey, Mishicot, Katelyn (Ben) Burton, Cleveland; his former wife and mother of their daughters: Amy Sheck, Manitowoc, who remained a good friend and caretaker to Marty; three grandsons: Corey and Deacon Dassey, Eli Burton; one sister and two brothers-in-law: Lisa (Howard) Robertson, Nick Kravljanac; one step-sister: Laura Herman; four nephews: Buck and Bo Robertson, Nicholas and Kevin Kravljanac; as well as other relatives and friends. Marty was preceded in death by his father: Martin A. Sheck; mother and step-father: Betty (Bill) Herman; one sister: CeCelia Kravljanac.
A service of comfort will be held for the family at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Knollwood Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veteran’s Chapter #731 of Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
