Mary Bohn Obituary

Mary E. Bohn, age 85, of Manitowoc, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her children.

Mary was born on August 13, 1940, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Emmett and Virgina (Virnoche) Mellberg. She graduated with the Class of 1958 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Following high school, Mary attended the Holy Family School of Nursing. On June 10, 1961, she married Lawrence L. Bohn at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Larry preceded her in death on October 6, 2018. Over the years, Mary worked as a nurse's aide in homecare for Holy Family Hospital.

Mary was passionate about theatre. She was actively involved with Masquers, The Children's Center of the Arts and Heart-a-Rama. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends……. and garage sales.

Survivors include son: David Bohn, Milwaukee, daughter and son-in-law: Kristin and Allen Roling, Stoughton, son and daughter-in-law James Bohn and Melissa Freitas, New Bedford, MA; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Emmett and Virgina Mellberg; husband: Lawrence L. Bohn; her brothers: Terrance and Rene; her cousin: Jim and his wife: Mary Mellberg; her cousin: Daniel and his wife: Shirley Blitz; and her beloved dog: Millie. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi, Waldo site, 1121 N. 14th St. Manitowoc. The Rev. Doug LeCaptain will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
