Mary R. Derpinghaus

Mary R. Derpinghaus, age 93, of Manitowoc passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

The former Mary Achten was born on May 15, 1932, in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Jacob and Eva (Hibbard) Achten. She grew up in De Pere and attended De Pere schools. On November 17, 1951, Mary was married to Merle F. Derpinghaus at the National Shrine of St. Joseph, De Pere. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2015. Mary had many different jobs in her life and most of all enjoyed her family as a mom and grandma. She enjoyed baking delicious desserts for her family. Mary was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Michael (Marilyn) Derpinghaus, Holmen, Patrick (Amy) Derpinghaus, Krakow, David Deringhaus, Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law: Kris (Steve) Blaha, Manitowoc, JoAnne Derpinghaus, Seymour; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Lou Baeten, CO; two sisters-in-law: Mary Achten, Green Bay, Marilyn Duesing, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jacob and Eva Achten; her husband: Merle Derpinghaus; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Alan (Laurie) Derpinghaus, Thomas “Chamba” Derpinghaus; seven brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Calvary Mausoleum Chapel, 2601 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Nicholas Stellpflug will officiate with entombment of her cremated remains in the Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Calvary Mausoleum Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Mary’s name for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
