It is with heavy hearts that Mary Lou Delores Gates (Toltzman), 90 of Two Rivers passed away peacefully at her home April 4th 2026 surrounded by her loving son Mark and daughter Nicole. She was born February 1st 1936 in Manitowoc, WI, the daughter of William and Nettie Toltzman.
Following her graduation from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Mary Lou was employed at City Hall and many other office positions thereafter. She married her husband Gene in 1959. Mary Lou and Gene resided in several cities while having had five children, returning to their final residence in Two Rivers.
Dedicated to her children’s athletics and school functions. Mary Lou volunteered several years to the Two Rivers High School booster club with her time and sewing skills. In her later years she enjoyed performing and volunteering in tap and hula dance. Along with line dancing with many special friends. She was a long-time member of several bowling teams. A member of the USTA Tennis traveling team and Wander Springs golf league. Other hobbies included reading her favorite books, shopping trips, and going out to the movies.
Traveling to many different countries with her husband and building a second home to spend winters in AZ, her favorite vacationing spot was Puerto Vallarta with her daughter Nicole.
She is survived by five children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren and her lifelong friend of 80 years Jane Kuchenbecker along with many other relatives, nieces and nephew and friends. She will be missed by her furry friend Brie.
Thank you to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Klein and Stangel Funeral Home for their compassion and assistance with her final days. A celebration of a life well lived will be held at a future date.
