Melvin M. Erickson, 93, of Two Rivers passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Melvin was born on December 3, 1931 in Chicago, IL to the late Hjalmer and Edith (Johnson) Erickson. He attended schools in Two Rivers and graduated with the class of 1950 from Washington High School. On September 29, 1951, he married the former Marge Gooding at Grace Church. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2007. He then married Mary Jean Kozlowski on July 18, 2010 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ. He worked as a carpenter for Pauls Skil Builders.
Melvin was an avid fisherman, and the couple were big fans of Wisconsin sports. He was a member of Grace Congregational Church of Christ, the Manitowoc County Real Estate Association, the Eagle’s, and also a member and past president of the Lion’s Club.
Melvin is survived by his wife: Mary Jean Erickson, Two Rivers; five children: Linda (Gary) Chaloupka, Two Rivers, Nancy (Harold) Taddy, Fredonia, Dale Erickson, Two Rivers, Debbie (Kurt) Luebke, Two Rivers, and Scott (Sue) Kozlowski, Two Rivers; 13 grandchildren: Cory, Kevin, Mark, Gretchen (Christopher), Laura (Guido), Andrew, Bryan, Eric (Jaime), Gregg (Colleen), Chris (Sheena), Kyle (Amanda), Daniel (Gin), and Stacy (Dave); 23 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Doris Glesner, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents: Hjalmer and Edith Erickson; first wife: Marge Erickson; one brother and two sisters: infant sister, Paul (Mickey) Erickson, Gladdy (Wayne) Sekadlo, and Glee (Buzz) Asplund; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eddie Gooding, Mary Lou Hill, Harold Glesner, and Katheryn (Darryl) Johnson.
A memorial service to celebrate Melvin’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801Garfield St., with Rev. Mark Schmitt officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00am. Burial of cremains will take place at Forest View Cemetery in Two Rivers.
