Mercedes M. Wilda, age 99, of Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon, November 1, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.Mercedes was born on June 27, 1919 in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Anton and Julia (Jirasek) Skubal. She grew up in the Mishicot area and attended the Pleasant View Elementary School graduating with the class of 1937 from Mishicot High School. On June 24, 1941 Mercedes married Lester A. Wilda in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1996. In the past she worked for the Manitowoc Tinsel Factory and Kaysun Plastics. Mercedes was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and the Wisconsin Czechs.She is survived by her five children: Jerry (Sharon) Wilda, Grafton; Janet Liska, Mishicot; James (Patricia) Wilda, Grand Blanc, MI; Julie Schroeder, Manitowoc; Jon Wilda, Fort Meyers, FL; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Zimmerman; Jonathon Wilda; Scott Shaw; Vicki Valenta; Dawn Bell; Sheri Walker; Danny Schroeder; Marissa Larson; Martin Wilda; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Bernadine Wachtel, Two Rivers; one sister-in-law: Lorna Skubal, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Anton and Julia Skubal; her husband: Lester A. Wilda; one grandson: Patrick Schroeder; two sons-in-law: George Liska; Richard Schroeder; one brother: Glen Skubal; three sisters and four brothers-in-law: Arlene (Herman) Roepke; Doris (Frank) Hammernik; Joyce (Clarence) Thompson; Joe Wachtel; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Joyce Wilda; Delores (Henry) Klenke.A private family Memorial service will be held at the Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel, 1500 Highway 310, Manitowoc. Rev. Julie Barger will officiate with entombment of her cremated remains to follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum. Memorial donations in Mercedes name would be appreciated to St. Paul's Ev.
