Michael P. Dewane, age 86, formerly of the Valders area, passed away Monday night May 9, 2022, at Hamilton Health Services in Two Rivers.
Mike was born on June 17, 1935, at St. Anna, son of the late Edward and Val (Wegner) Dewane. He grew up in the Valders area and was a 1954 graduate of Valders High School. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps from August 4, 1954, until he was called home to help operate the family farm in Valders on February 18, 1955. He worked hard all of his life, including farming, driving long haul truck and being an apartment manager at Meadow Brook in Manitowoc. He also volunteered many hours at various churches and organizations in the community. Mike was married to the former Laura L. Wagner on May 24, 1992, at Triumphant Christian Church in Manitowoc. He was known for his gregarious personality, his love of God and Country, his laughter, and his ability to tell interesting stories about his life. Mike enjoyed fishing with his great grandson.
Survivors include his wife: Laura Dewane, West Haven Care Facility Brillion; two children: Christopher (Kristin), Kellnersville, and Jamey (Holly) Dewane, Manitowoc; six grandchildren: TJ Dewane, Holly (Jordan) Brull, Abigail Dewane, Samuel Dewane, Martin Dewane, Hayden Dewane; one great grandchild: Alice Brull; four brothers and six sisters: Eugene Dewane, Rocky (Lynn) Dewane, Patti (Danny) Schmidt, sister-in-law: Mary, all of Arizona; Bud (Sue) Dewane, Florida; Betty Bubolz, Jerry Dewane, Mary (Ron) Christianson, Anita Dewane, Karen (Leroy) Sorenson, and Barb (Glenn) Brandl, all of Wisconsin. Five stepchildren: Wanda (Chuck) Olson, Donna (Robert) Birringer, David (Dawn) Pritzl, Wayne (Glenda) Pritzl, Bryan (Tamara) Pritzl; eleven step grandchildren: Philip, Daniel, Sarah, Katelyn, Kari, Corey, Janae (Tony), Jeremiah (Stephine), Jessica (Alex), Alexa, and Caden; nine step great grandkids: Jaelyn, Gavin, Grace, Luca, Lucas, Claire, Isaac, Padraic, and Anneliese, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. He was further preceded in death by five brothers: Andrew, Daniel, Joseph, Tony, and Victor; one sister-in-law: Sandra Dewane; and one brother-in-law: Elmer Bubolz.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at The Lakeshore Life Celebration Center/Peace United Church of Christ, 3613 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. Pastor Christine Dondlinger will officiate with burial of his cremated remains to follow at the Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be accorded by Drews Blaser American Legion Post #88 of Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Lakeshore Life Celebration Center on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am.
