Michael Mueller Obituary

Michael B. Mueller, of Plymouth, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center, surrounded by his family. This followed his yearlong battle with esophageal cancer. Mike was born on August 18, 1932, in Plymouth, to Bernard and Catherine (Sprangers) Mueller. He graduated from Plymouth High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 as a radio operator WB29 during the Korean War. In November 1959, Mike married Susan (Miller). Susie preceded him in death in January 1978. In April 1979, he married Corinne (Theurer) Sheridan and the family grew. Following his military service, Mike spent time working in California. He then returned to Plymouth and worked at Clevepak, GTE, in the family business-Muellers Bakery and A&P Cheese, which later became Great Lakes Cheese, from which he retired. He served as a Plymouth Police Department Auxiliary Officer in the 1970s, volunteered at Nutt Hill, served on the board of directors at the Plymouth Historical Society and an usher at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mike was an avid golfer belonging to leagues at Quit Qui Oc Golf Course for years and was proud of his two "holes in one". After retiring from Great Lakes Cheese, he worked for Wittkopp Funeral Home and Burkhardt Ford and became a "snow bird" wintering in Mission, TX. Mike and Corinne also traveled extensively to Washington D.C., Alaska, New Zealand, and Australia. Mike was a member of the American Legion Post 243 and a life member of VFW Post 5612 in Plymouth. He proudly served on the Military Honors and Parade Squads for many years. In 2015, Mike, accompanied by his son Karl, was on the Honor Flight as a Korean War Veteran. Mike was very proud of his children and especially his grandchildren. He could be found watching their games, plays, recitals, and whatever else they were involved in, all while smiling proudly. He proudly taught his kids to ski. Mike is survived by his wife, Corinne; daughters, Karen (Mark) Degner of Plymouth and Sara (Terry) Boesch of Chilton; sons, Bernard "Bernie" Mueller of Black River Falls, Robert "Bob" (Linda) Mueller of Plymouth, Karl (Janice) Mueller of Plymouth and Jeff (Sandi) Sheridan of Plymouth. He is further survived by his grandchildren; Caitlin (Adrian) Avina, Megan Olig (fianc Scott Koenig), Zyta and Zayla Mueller, Lexi and Matthew Sheridan, Kelsey, Kaitlyn and Kayde Boesch; a great grandson Bradley Hintz; his sister Meredith (Gilbert) Miske of Plymouth; a brother John (Judy) Mueller of Crivitz; and a sister-in-law Shirley (Charles) Smestad of Hot Springs Village, AR. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Thomas "Tom" Mueller, and a niece Jenny Miske. A Memorial Mass for Michael will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 5 PM, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, with Rev. Dennis Vanbeek officiating. Friends and family may gather at the church, 115 Plymouth St. in Plymouth, at 3 PM until the time of Mass at 5PM. Inurnment will follow the service in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ladwig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243. In preference of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Sharon S.
