Myron Mleziva Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Myron L. Mleziva, age 75, a Francis Creek resident, passed away early Saturday morning, August 21, 2021 at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay.

Myron was born on January 19, 1946 in the town of Gibson, son of the late Adolph F. and Olive A. (Bouda) Mleziva. He grew up on the family farm in Melnik along with his six siblings. He was educated at the Melnik Grade School and graduated from the Mishicot High School in 1964. Myron was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1966 until 1967. He was a squad leader in C. Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism.

Myron married his high school sweetheart, the former Joy Lynn Hassemer on December 7, 1968 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. He retired from Parker-Hannifin Corporation, Manitowoc after 42 years. Myron was passionate about coaching, especially basketball. He coached at St. Anne Catholic Grade School for 37 years. Myron loved the kids and sharing with them the importance of teamwork, skill development, sportsmanship and fun.

Myron loved road trips with Joy. Every two years, C. Company holds a reunion somewhere in the United States hosted by a C. Company veteran. Myron, Joy, fellow Army “Brother” Bob Rohan and his wife Mickie, of Omro, would take these trips together. One road trip with the Rohan’s even included going to the Kentucky Derby. Myron and Joy would also travel with friends, Floyd and Ann Zeman of Whitelaw and Jon Brice and Pam Ewen of Francis Creek. Wineries and breweries were a favorite. He was a huge sports fan and a game was often on the television. Myron was also happy to see his class of “64” for breakfast. He loved his wife Joy whom he called “His Angel”. His kids and grandsons were his pride and joy. Anytime he heard “Papa” it would bring a smile to his face. Myron’s presence at any extracurricular event was amazing.
