Paul Spevacek, Age 87, of Manitowoc, WI, passed away peacefully at Aurora Hospital in Two Rivers, WI on Sunday, April 26, 2026. He was born on October 5, 1938 in Two Rivers, WI to the late Benjamin and Edna (Tess) Spevacek. He attended the residential Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, WI from October 1942 – June 1958. He had fond memories of Mrs. Root, his beloved dorm mother. He loved spending summers at home or visiting his grandparents’ farm in Tisch Mills.
Paul served a welding apprenticeship and worked as an electric spot welder with Kelvinator in Manitowoc for nearly 16 years. He later spent 8 years employed by Goodwill NCW. Paul loved to travel and immersed himself in the scenery, landmarks, history, and museums of each destination. Some of his favorite trips were to Hawaii, California, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. He especially enjoyed attending deaf conventions in cities around the country. Paul was a history buff, reading and researching both local and national history. He keenly followed NASA and was fascinated with space exploration. He was always a Wisconsin boy at heart. He was a loyal Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Green Bay Packers fan.
Paul is survived by his sister, Patricia (Ronald) Schelfhout of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Bohman, and brother-in-law Anthony Bohman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 1 at 11:30 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Manitowoc, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery next to his parents. Pfeffer Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements.
