Peter W. Schema

Peter W. Schema, age 79, of Kiel passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 in Manitowoc.

Peter was born November 19, 1945 in Manitowoc, son of the late Aaron and Catherine (Rettela) Schema.  He was a graduate of Kiel High School with the Class of 1963.  He was united in marriage to the former Carol Mayer on October 28, 1972.  She preceded him in death on September 30, 2023.

Peter was a dairy farmer in the Town of Eaton.  He then moved and built a home in the back 40 next to his son's house from the farmland and sold the farm.  Peter then worked part-time for a while after retirement and enjoyed spending time with his wife Carol tending to his yard and garden.  In his retirement years he enjoyed tending to the 2 acre arboretum he hand planted when he built his retirement home. In his later years Peter enjoyed watching all the wildlife from birds to small mammals that made the arboretum their home. He especially enjoyed the dozen or so hummingbirds that called that home.

Survivors include his two sons:  Allan (Kathryn) Schema, Manitowoc; Ben Schema, Kiel; his 4 brothers:  Aaron, Jimmy, Carl (Karen) and Lewis (Debra) Schema; and close family friend Jake Babich and his family.  Peter was preceded in death by his parents Aaron & Catherine Schema and his wife Carol Schema.

Cremation has taken place and Private Family Services were held.   Burial took place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
