Ramona (nee LaPean) “Peanie” Peronto was called home to the Lord on May 8th, 2022, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
She was born on February 5, 1930, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, where she grew up and attended high school. On March 6th, 1948, when she was just 17 years old, she married the love of her life, Raymond J. Peronto, and spent the rest of her life with him. Together they were the proprietors of Peanie and Ray’s Bar in Cooperstown for over 15 years. Ramona also worked as a prize-winning real estate agent for 30+ years. She also served as co-founder of Parents for Drug Free Youth and drove school bus for the Denmark School System. She was quite the hustler as well! She had a side gig of building, flipping, and remodeling homes, and took great pride in the finished product of her work. Ramona could accomplish anything she put her mind to.
Ramona never idled—she was constantly doing something; mostly it was for someone else, and it was always done with love. Ramona kept busy with her crafts and unfailingly had the perfect hand-crafted gift for any special occasion, especially on Christmas (her favorite time of year). But no matter the occasion, she ensured everything was just right. She always went the extra mile to make any event the best and happiest time for everyone, without exception. In her retirement years, she and Ray loved to travel. It is safe to say Ramona and Ray visited all 50 beautiful states!
Ramona is preceded in death by her parents Darwin and Wilma LaPean, her son Patrick Peronto, her brother Donald LaPean, and her sister Shirley Winnekins.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Raymond J. Peronto, her sons: Shawn (Linda) Peronto, Robert (Ellen) Peronto, Randy Peronto (Diane Bilicki), and her daughter Chris (Bill) Pesl, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private family gathering will be held at the Calvary Chapel in Manitowoc. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. A special thanks to everyone who assisted Ramona in her time of need, including all at Heartland Care Services.
