Rebecca Ann (Toerpe) Vela

Our beloved Rebecca Ann (Toerpe) Vela joined her heavenly family on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

Becky was born on October 15, 1977, in Manitowoc. She was the youngest of three, born to James and the late Patricia Toerpe. Becky attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1996. She later went on to receive her associates degree at the University of Wisconsin in 2011.

Becky was loving, vibrant, and empathetic with a passion for caring for others. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children embracing every moment with them and she absolutely loved being a grandma. Some of her many hobbies included gardening, thrifting, solving puzzles, and collecting various unique items.

She is survived by her father: James (Marcia) Toerpe; two brothers: James Toerpe Jr., Mark (Heidi) Toerpe; three children: Akella (Bee) Vang, Alexis Neri, Shyla (Riley) Neri; two grandchildren: Alaia Yang, Kaya Yang; adopted sister: Angela (Pierre) Bolden and her family Aysha (Zach), Cora, Sophia, Ahmani, Izabelah, and Pinelopi; many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her mother: Patricia Toerpe; and grandparents: Frank (Marina) Krajewski and Edward (Helen) Toerpe.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Connection Church, 1455 N. Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM.
