Rita (Linsmeier) Brochtrup Obituary

Rita M. (Linsmeier) Brochtrup, age 85, of Manitowoc, passed away early Thursday morning, June 1, 2023 at her residence with her loving family at her side.

Rita was born on March 6, 1938 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Buresch) Wilhelm. She attended the Marquette School and St. Patrick’s Catholic High School for two years both in Maple Grove. On August 20, 1960 Rita married Christopher J. Linsmeier at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maple Grove. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2001. She later married James W. Brochtrup on July 24, 2004 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2023. In the past Rita enjoyed riding her Kawasaki motor cycle. She loved the outdoors and her will to accomplish goals was never compromised. Rita’s spiritual beliefs in the Roman Catholic Faith were extremely strong.

Survivors include her five children: Ronald (Jean) Linsmeier, Manitowoc, Daniel (Joan) Linsmeier, Branch, Kennard (Blanca) Linsmeier, Manitowoc, Steven (Lee Ann) Linsmeier, Newton, Kim (Edward) Specht, Green Bay; her seven grandchildren: Brian, Amanda, Danielle, Christopher, Laura, Alex and Ian; two step-grandchildren: Josh and Danielle; five great-grandchildren: Ben, Jonah, Patrick, Calvin and Levi; one sister: Kay Wilhelm, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Lorraine Wilhelm, Green Bay; four step-children: Brenda (Don) Schultz Jr., Brian (Rose) Brochtrup, Jerry (Tina) Brochtrup, Julie (Mark) Arft; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Marge Cardinahl; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Frances Wilhelm; her first husband: Christopher J. Linsmeier; her second husband: James W. Brochtrup; one grandson: Andrew Linsmeier; one daughter-in-law: Sharon Linsmeier; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Lester Wilhelm, Donald (Dolores) Wilhelm, Robert Wilhelm; one sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy (John) Wagner; one step-daughter: Bonnie Brochtrup.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw. Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to take place in the parish cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at 11:30 AM.
