Avid fisherman and world traveler, Robert E. Kalota, 82, of Chilton, passed into the eternal love of God on Friday, April 21, 2023.
He was born June 1940, to the late Frank and Helen (Sobczak) Kalota.
Making vows of religion, Robert was known as Brother Gabriel to Divine Word Missionaries. Serving the Lord, Robert built schools and houses for communities in Nicaragua and New Guinea.
Later in life, Robert became a Master Carpenter and opened Kalota Brothers Home Remodeling with his brother, Frank Jr. Together they made beautiful furniture that will be cherished for many generations.
Robert is survived by his sisters, Carol Erb and Patricia (Gary) Smith; many nephews; nieces; and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother, Frank and Alice Kalota; brother-in-law, David Erb; and nephew, Matthew Korpal.
A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at St. Gregory Parish, 214 Church Street St. Nazianz, with Rev. William Brunner officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the church from 10:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
