Obituary

Robert "Bob" Dietrich, age 73, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully at home after a 45-year battle with cancer.

Bob was born April 28, 1950, in Manitowoc to Charles and Florence Dietrich. He graduated from Lincoln high School in 1968. He joined the National Guard shortly after graduating and worked at Parker in Manitowoc until he retired in 2014. On August 4, 1995, Bob married his best friend, Sue. When he retired, they bought a cottage in Little Sturgeon. He loved fishing, being a member of the Whitelaw Sportsman’s Club, mentoring youth with fishing, and Relay for Life. He was a master gardener, loved garage sales, spending time outdoors with family and friends, and drinking manhattans.

Bob’s grandkids were a great joy in his life. He taught them to fish and shoot and attended countless sporting events, grandparent days, and graduations. Highlights were watching two of his grandsons win a state football championship at Camp Randall Stadium, watching his granddaughter earn a black belt in karate, and watching his oldest grandson run at the state sectional track meet.

He is survived by his wife Sue, children: Scott (Kelly) Totten and Holli (Jerry) Kirchner; his grandchildren: Dakota LeCaptain, Gavin Totten, Dain Totten and Suzannah Kirchner; his siblings: Paul (Karen) Dietrich, Ellen (Bill) Becker, Kathy (Wayne) Schleis, and Laura Dietrich; his special friends: Andy, Kelly and Sam Wolff and Roger and Betty Honold; many brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Ed Bauknecht, nephew James, and niece Michelle.
