Roger Raymond Dufek, 73, of Manitowoc passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in Gulf Shores, AL.
Roger was born on April 18, 1949, in Manitowoc to Emil and Rita (Martin) Dufek. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Roger served his country in the United States Army, 4th Infantry Division, he received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action. Roger married Linda Dueno and they were members of St. Francis of Assisi. He was a machinist at the Manitowoc Company for 42 years. Roger was a life member and past National President of the 4th Infantry Division Association. He was also a life member of the Purple Heart Association, Vietnam Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans Association, AMVETS Post 99, the Combat Infantry Men’s Association of Michigan, also serving as past President and a member of Newton Lions and Seaguls. After retirement, Roger and Linda spent the winters in Gulf Shores, AL, where Roger was able to go fishing every day. He had a passion for fishing, catching, and releasing but not cleaning.
Roger is survived by his wife: Linda; brother: Michael (Chris) Dufek; sister: Janet Lewellyn (Gary) Gelb; brothers-in-law: Mike (Terry) Dueno, Steve (Donna) Dueno, and Charlie Dueno; sisters-in-law: Debbie (Dan) Luchsinger, Robbie Huss, Cindy (Chris) Treml, and Annie (David) Spindler; and special friend: Jodi Larson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents: Emil and Rita Dufek; parents-in-law: Roland and Patricia Dueno; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Mary and Nino Rios; and brother-in-law: Bruce Huss.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th St. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Following the service there will be a Life Celebration at City Limits, 3627 CTH-CR.
