Roger Kabelowsky Obituary

MANITOWOC, WISCONSIN – As promised by his Savior Jesus Christ, Roger Charles Kabelowsky arrived at his eternal heavenly home on January 21, 2023.  The day before, Roger enjoyed a raucous day of laughter with his family present.  Roger was born on September 30, 1934 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to parents, Charles and Esther Kabelowsky.  Roger lived in Sheboygan County much of his young life.  Roger graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1953. He    enlisted in the Marine Corp, serving as a seagoing Marine in active service for two years and then in the reserve SeaBees for 6 more years.  Roger was very proud of being a Marine. His children all knew the words to the Marine Corps Hymn and said many a “Semper Fi”. General Telephone Company hired Roger as a lineman shortly after his military service and he made GTE his career for 27 years.  Roger met his bride Mary Katherine Mills in 1956 and after a short romance, they were married on September 29, 1956.  They would share marriage for the next 66 years.

Random Lake and Cascade became home to the young budding Kabelowsky Family.  The Kabelowskys would raise 4 cherished children Jody, Ryan, Reed, and Jana.  Roger and Mary would settle in Two Rivers during the latter part of  his career with GTE.  Roger and Mary would follow their children through their lives and watch them, and the grandchildren to come, in any of the activities they would pursue.  Roger and Mary were regular landmarks at many sporting events and other community activities in the area.  Aside from following the activities and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, working, singing, and talking to anyone he met.  Roger was a faithful Christian and active servant to the Lutheran Church.  Roger shared every morning with his Savior, studying and reading the bible.

Roger is survived by his wife Mary, two daughters, Jody (Tony) Gauthier and Jana (Jeff) Karl, two sons Ryan (Jodi) Kabelowsky and Reed (Kim) Kabelowsky, all settling in the area.  Roger has one sister Shirley (Wayne) Butters along with two sisters-in-law, Mary (Al) Koch and Sharon Dvorak. Roger and Mary have 10 grandchildren, Adam (Kristina) Gauthier, Luke Gauthier (special friend, Michelle Wargin), Aaron (Mercedes) Gauthier, Ashley (TJ) Seiler, Brett (Stephani) Kabelowsky, Andrew Kabelowsky, Kris (Alysa Stukel) Karl, Sam Karl,  (Kim Kabelowsky) Katie (Eric) Wolf and Bobby (fiancé Julia) Montgomery and 10 great-grandchildren.  Roger and Mary have many friends, blessings from a long and joyous life.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law and four brothers-in-law, James Mills, Francis Mills, Daniel Dvorak and Harold Mills, Jr. along with Harold’s wife, Marge Mills and Francis’ wife, Alice Mills.

The family would like to gratefully thank all the folks at Aurora Hospital and Hospice for the fantastic care and concern afforded the Kabelowsky family.  We are thankful to Pastor Paul Bowe of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, for his spiritual care of Roger and the Kabelowskys in Roger’s final days.  Roger celebrates in the company of his Savior and all who touched his life and have gone before him. His family looks forward to the day when they will see him again in heaven.
