Roger Sprang Obituary

Roger Melvin Sprang, 80, passed away on the morning of May 1. He was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, born on Aug. 12, 1945, to parents Joseph and Katherine (Windus) Sprang. He served in the US Army before returning to Manitowoc and spent 40+ years working at Red Arrow. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Sandra Klein. The pair raised four beloved children, and family became the center of Roger’s world.

He was a caring and supportive father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who sought every opportunity to bring his family together. He found immense pride and joy watching his grandkids sports and extra-curriculars. Roger and Sandra had a deep love for the open road and saw much of the country together through their car windows on road trips where the destination sometimes did not matter. He was a man who could enjoy life’s simple pleasures, in his element with a brandy old fashioned (with olives) and sitting to watch NASCAR, the Packers, Brewers, or Badgers.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra, his four dear children, Laura (Douglas) Lipp, Pattie Sprang, Charles (Jennifer) Sprang, and Michael (Jacquelyn) Sprang. His legacy is also carried on by his eight adored grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla (Kam Risner), and Davey (Trinity) Cisler, Rhonda (Curt) Elliott, Violet (Andrew) Benirschke, and Madison, Logan, and Brycen Sprang. He was blessed to see seven great grandchildren as well, Ariana Risner, Adrian, Wyatt, Elijah, and Nova Cisler, Alecia Castro, and Alexandria Allie. He is fondly remembered by his siblings, Carolyn Orth, Mary Mrotek, Joanne Popp, and Annie Sprang, as well as his sister-in-law Donna Sprang.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers Donald and Francis Sprang.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Aunt Annie for the care and dedication she has shown, there aren’t words to properly express our appreciation.
