Ronald Stangel Obituary

Ronald L. Stangel, age 78, a lifelong Two Rivers resident, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Northland Lodge Assisted Living, Two Rivers.

Ronald was born May 10, 1943 in Two Rivers, son of the late Harvey and Florence (Goetz) Stangel. He attended Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1962. Following high school, Ronald began working at the family business, Stangel Super Value, which he continued to operate for the rest of his career.  He also served in the National Guard for six years. On April 30, 1966 Ronald married KayLynn Birr at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He was a member of the Two Rivers Police and Fire Commission, chair of the Board of Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Christmas Fantasy Parade, Co-Chair of the Two Rivers Ice Cream Sundae, President of Rotary, and member of the Two Rivers Retail Organization. Ronald was also a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. He enjoyed watersports, especially water skiing, which he began doing in his younger years while spending time in Rileys Bay, Door County. Ronald was able to share that passion for the water with his wife, children, and grandchildren at their family cabin on Kelly Lake. He also enjoyed scooter rides around Two Rivers and Kelly Lake.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years: KayLynn Stangel, Two Rivers; three children: Rob (Betsy) Stangel, Wausau, Craig (Karen) Stangel, Sheboygan, and Nicholas (Paula) Stangel, Two Rivers; six grandchildren: Cullen, Benjamin, Parker, Rylee, Stephanie, and Brittany Stangel; siblings: Paul (Leora) Stangel, Teresa (John) Quello, and Lori (Lee) Mueller; one sister-in-law: Vicky Stangel (late husband Kenny Stangel); and in-laws: Ginger Steltz (late husband Tom Steltz), Karen (Bob) Strohm, and Roger (Shirley) Birr. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey and Florence Stangel and one brother: Kenny Stangel; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Leonard and Eva Birr; and one brother-in-law: Tom Steltz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier. The funeral service will be live streamed and can be viewed by visiting the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church website or St. Peter the Fisherman Facebook page. Full military honors will be accorded at the church by the VFW Post #1248 and the American Legion Post #165, both of Two Rivers.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers.
