Russell H. “Wheeler” Wheelock, age 82 of Manitowoc passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Azura Memory Care of Manitowoc.
Russell was born January 26, 1941, in Manitowoc, son of the late Russell and Janice (Bentley) Wheelock. As a young man he joined the United States Marine Corps. On June 9, 2001, he married the former Kristen (Nagel) Schindler. Russ owned and operated his own antique store known as Wheeler on the River, on N. 10th St, Manitowoc. In the past he was also a used car salesman for Yanda Motors. Russ was a member of the Manitowoc Eagles Club, Badger Knife Club, and The Renew Church of Two Rivers.
Survivors include his wife: Kristen Wheelock, Whitelaw; his children: Darren (Becky) Wheelock, Manitowoc, Valerie Buxbaum, Manitowoc, Cordelia Rodriguez, Sheboygan; stepchildren: Benjamin Kennealey, Eugene, OR, Rachael (Jon) Propson, Madison, FL, Leah Schindler, Plymouth, Joshua Schindler, Manitowoc; one sister: Sherry Ginn, Pensacola, FL, and one brother: Jeffrey Wheelock, Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Janice Wheelock; a brother: Richard Wheelock; one son-in-law: Bob Buxbaum.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Renew Church, 1029 33 St., Two Rivers. Officiating will be Pastor Randall Lassila. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. The burial of his cremated remains will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
A memorial fund has been established in Russell's name for the Lakeshore Humane Society or the Voice of The Martyrs.
