Sara LaJeunesse Obituary

Sara J. LaJeunesse, age 81 of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side, Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Sara was born March 25, 1944 in Marquette, MI, daughter of the late Arthur and Lucille (Johnson) Maki. On December 18, 1965, she was married to Joe LaJeunesse in Gwinn, MI. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2018. Sara was a dental receptionist at Lakeshore Dental for 14 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of Lakeshore United Methodist Church, past church secretary, Board of Trustees, Women’s Discussion Group, and was a volunteer for Nami. Sara loved to spend time with her grandchildren, play golf, read, play dominos, and put together jigsaw puzzles. She also was an avid Brewers, Packers, and Badger fan and enjoyed an ice-cold Coke.

She is survived by two daughters: Andrea (Jim) Frailing, Waukesha, Jenni (Tim) Olson, Menasha; four grandchildren: Derek (Lucy) Longmeyer, Waukesha, Lindsay (Zach) Gronski, Green Bay, Abby (Jon) Schultz, Green Bay, Zach Olson, Menasha; two great-grandchildren: Jordan and Walker; one brother: Dick Maki, Gwinn, MI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Lucille Maki; her husband: Joe LaJeunesse; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, 411 Reed Ave., Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Neil Piepenburg. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Sara was a loving mom, wife, Nana, and friend. She devoted her life to her family and will be dearly missed. We take great comfort knowing she is reunited with Joe.
