Scott M. Paulow, 65, lifelong resident of Two Rivers passed away at his home Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was born June 25, 1958, in Two Rivers to the late John and Leona (Schepper) Paulow. Scott graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School on June 8, 1977. Fascinated with sports of all kinds at an early age, Scotty (as he is affectionately known to just about everyone) was student manager of the high school football and basketball teams from 1973-1977. After high school graduation, Scott attended Lakeshore Technical College studying accounting. At about this same time, he became the statistician for the football and girls’ softball teams and scorer for the girls volleyball team. He continued to support, as bat boy, the Two Rivers High School, and Polar Bears baseball teams for many years.
He was a statistician for high school sporting events for 1240 AM WOMT / 102.3 WQTC radio stations since the late 1970s. In 1986 he joined the radio sportscasting team in the sportscast booth first with Damon Ryan and later with Tim Strews, Randy Johnson, and Brian Norton. Over these many years, he has helped with the broadcasts compiling statistics, keeping score, and offering the occasional commentary.
After college, he worked at Holiday House. His supervisor Deanna Genske helped him land a job as a page with the Two Rivers Lester Public Library in 1995 and he continued working there until his retirement in 2022.
Known for his many years supporting all manner of sports throughout the Lakeshore, Scotty was the fan for all seasons and thus the man for all seasons. Though disabled with cerebral palsy, Scotty touched and inspired many with his courage, perseverance, and loving heart. He indeed made this world a better place.
On April 26, 2017, he was inducted into the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame, receiving the Al Fenlon Commitment to Excellence Award. On January 24, 2020, he was inducted into the Two Rivers High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Scott is survived by brother-in-law: Ben Marx, Manitowoc; nephew: Brett (Janet) Marx, Manitowoc; nephew: Nicholas (Leslie) Marx, Neenah; niece: Melissa (Clint) Dorn, Hortonville; and all of their children and Scott’s cousins. Scotty is also survived by special friends, mentors, and colleagues: Steve Balcalzo, Damon Cattani, Tim Strews, Brian Norton, Liza Darmagray, Kevin and Kurt Shillcox, and many many others. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Mary Anne (Paulow) Marx.
