Sharon Roekle Obituary

Sharon M. “Sharie” Roekle, age 78 of Manitowoc, was called to her eternal home Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

The former Sharie Meineke was born on April 28, 1945 in Two Rivers daughter of the late Dale and Janice (Peltier) Meineke. She grew up in the Mishicot area and was a 1963 graduate of Manitowoc Lutheran High School. On October 1, 1966 Sharie was married to Paul G. Roekle at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Mishicot, by the Rev. Armin Roekle, father of the groom. Sharie graduated from Columbia School of Nursing, Milwaukee as a Registered Nurse, working at the Manitowoc and Two Rivers Clinics in Pediatrics. She was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. She was instrumental in forming a local chapter of Compassionate Friends, a national support organization supporting bereaved parents. Sharie was involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, achieving national honors as Big Sister of the year in 1982. The couple enjoyed time spent at their property in Door County.

Survivors include her husband: Paul Roekle, Manitowoc; two sons: Christopher Roekle, Wausau, Andrew Roekle, Manitowoc; one sister and brother-in-law: Sue (Reiny) Bruss, rural Manitowoc; four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Diane Roekle, Adams-Friendship, John (Pamela) Roekle, Appleton, Joan (Eugene) Hartwig, Maribel, Ruth (William) Hirschfeld, Fort Atkinson; two special young friends of Paul and Sharie: Ava and Ivy, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dale and Janice Meineke; two children: Angela Sue Roekle and Philip Paul Roekle; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Rev. Armin and Esther Roekle; one brother-in-law: Karl Roekle.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Rev. Stephen Melso will officiate. Burial of her cremated remains will occur in the future at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated for Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or the Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
