Sharon "Sharie" Holly Obituary

Sharon M. Holly (“Sharie”), age 71, passed away suddenly Friday evening, January 10th, 2025 in the loving arms of family.   Sharie was born on March 29th, 1953, the first of the five children of the late Eugene F. and Evelyn D. Holly.  She attended Lincoln High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1971.  She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay graduating with a degree in accounting.

Sharie devoted her life to her family and friends, and to her work.  For more than 50 years she worked in all family businesses, including: Geno’s Beer and Liquor in Two Rivers; River Falls Supper Club in "Downtown Shoto"; Shoto Fixture and Supply, now Shoto Corporation; and West Twin Distributing.  Her commitment to work was tireless and her dedication to employees inspired many who worked with her. No detail was too small for Sharie’s attention, and though she was a notorious night owl, her imprint was felt throughout the business, often in notes and messages in a meticulous penmanship she inherited from her mother, Evelyn.  Steadfast, reliable and dedicated to the success of the business, Sharie’s impact cannot be understated.

Though her dedication to work was immense, it was eclipsed by her love and devotion to family.  In the later years of Eugene and Evelyn’s life, when she wasn’t at work, she was at their sides with a loving hand and companionship.  Through their dark hours she could be counted on to provide laughter and stories of wonderful times together or to make the run from Shoto for a Friday fish fry.   As a sister, they don’t make them much better.  She was a fixture at each family event, Packer tailgate party, birthday party, or holiday gathering.  She  often arrived (fashionably late) with more food than a River Falls buffet, and more gifts than Santa Claus.  More than this though, she was always a loving voice of friendship and reliable support as they raised their families, never the source of a harsh word.  Sharie had ten nieces and nephews and (at present count) 20 grand nieces and nephews (and 2 en route) to whom, unanimously, she was both legendary and adored.

To her friends, Sharie was always generous: with the fun and joy of her presence and with the warm smile of her friendship.   In quieter times Sharie could be counted on to reminisce about the many meaningful friendships she had enjoyed.  She shared tales of raucous good times, often in an outing to see her favorite band “The Friends;” her many friendships were deeply gratifying.

Sharie is survived by her four siblings and their spouses all residing in Wisconsin: Francis and Dawn Holly; Michael and Debra Holly; Sandra and Walt Larson; and Janel and Phil Maples. She is also survived by her ten nieces and nephews and their children (to date two more on the way): Courtney (Ken) Baumann;  Christopher (Brian) Holly; Adam (Jackie) Holly + Everson and Caelum; Derek (Ashley) Holly + Brody and Carver; Jason (Angie) Lettenberger + Owen, Gavin, Nolan and Kendall; Justin (Marquel) Lettenberger + Taytum and Hudson; Jada (Chris) Peterson + Beckhem, Aubree, Cashton, Nicholas and Jack; Bryanna (Max) Ashenbrener + Paisley, Brecken and Bickley;  Lexie (Ryan) Richter + Graham; and William Maples. Being part of a large family and witnessing it grow was especially life affirming to Sharie.

Cremation has taken place.  A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Fisherman church in Two Rivers will be held on May 3rd, 2025, at 11am.  Visitation will occur at the church from 9-11 am prior to the mass.  A celebration of life will follow.  Interment at Knollwood Mausoleum will occur later. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.lakeshorefamilyfuneralhomes.com.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; The America Macular Degeneration Foundation; or St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

While it might be poetic to say that Sharie “showered” family and friends with love; “firehose” would be more accurate.  Sharie lived a large life.  She did nothing in a small way and always on her own terms.  She leaves an equally large void in our lives as we say goodbye.
