Shirley M. Haug, age 92, a Manitowoc resident passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at St. Mary’s Home, Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Shirley was born on July 21, 1929, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Clifton and Odelia (Burkhardt) Kinard. On October 6,1951 Shirley was married to Thomas J. Haug at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2009. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. In the past Shirley volunteered at Woodland Dunes and was active in the Manitowoc Catholic Junior League. She was a member of the Manitowoc Elks Club and golfed in the Women’s League. Shirley was an avid bridge player, book reader and spent countless hours at Holy Innocents Parish volunteering. Shirley and her husband Tom were instrumental with the beginning of the Manitowoc/ Two Rivers Curling Club and Roncalli High School. They supported the High School throughout their lives. Tom and Shirley enjoyed European travels and especially enjoyed their time spent in Garmisch, Germany.

Survivors include her five children: Mark (Cindy) Haug, Aurora, CO; Mary Kay (Richard) Bianchi, Pensacola, FL; John (Char) Haug, Manitowoc; Anne (Lt. Col. Gary) Bloesl Ret., Pensacola, FL; Thomas R. Haug, Three Lakes. Nine Grandchildren: Kyle (Nikki) Haug, Chad (Jamie) Haug, Lauren (Jon) Spencer, Brandon (Alyssa) Haug, Carly (Blake) Mills, Jenny “Penny” (Cole) Weiland, Marissa Haug, Christian Bloesl, Nicolas Bianchi. Three Great Grandchildren: Madison Haug, Owen Haug, Cole Haug. One step-sister and her husband: Kay Lynn (Dennis) McCalister, AZ, one sister-in-law: Mary Louise Simmons, New Berlin. Shirley was preceded in death by her father: Clifton Kinard, her mother: Odelia Kinard Schwaab, her step- father: Lawrence Schwaab, her husband: Thomas J Haug, one brother-in-law: Roy Simmons.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Waldo Site, 1121 N. 14th Street Manitowoc. The Rev. Doug LeCaptain will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30AM until the time of service at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley’s name would be appreciated for the Roncalli High School or Woodland Dunes Nature Center.
