Shirley A. Swiggum, age 96, of Manitowoc passed away Tuesday morning September 23, 2025, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
The former Shirley Herman was born on September 16, 1929, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Clarence and Esther (Haefke) Herman. She grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1947 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On September 3, 1949, Shirley was married to Lloyd E. Swiggum at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2003. She was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children: Patricia (Greg) Becker, Manitowoc, James (Wanda) Swiggum, Cato, Kathleen Wilkerson, Dunn, NC, Jeffrey Swiggum, Freedom; one daughter-in-law: Paulette Swiggum, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren: Mark (Shannon) Becker, Dean (Kim) Becker, Kori Becker and her fiancé Paul Ferris, Chelsey (Jeff) Masiak, Corrie (Al) Muhowski, Michael (Monica) Wilkerson, Jenny Wilkerson, Zach Swiggum; fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Judy (Erv) Henke, TN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Esther Herman; her husband: Lloyd E. Swiggum; one son: Bill Swiggum; one great-grandson: Taylor; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Lucille) Herman; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Hamilton and Violet Swiggum; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Conrad (Elaine) Swiggum, Delores (Adolph) Anderson.
Burial will take place in the Knollwood Memorial Gardens. No services are scheduled at this time.
