Sister Alice Marie Hickok, age 85 a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, passed away Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, WI.
The former Joyce Anne Hickok was born on October 27, 1939, in Green Bay, Wisconsin daughter of the late Marlyn Ashley Hickok and Marie “Mary” Alice (McLaughlin) Hickok. She entered the convent in 1957 and professed her vows in 1959. Sister Alice Marie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and a Master of Arts Degree from Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa.
Sister Alice Marie ministered as a teacher at St. James, Cooperstown; St. John, Antigo and St. Paul, Wrightstown, all in Wisconsin; St. Peter Indian Mission, Bapchule; St. Anthony, Topawa; San Xavier, Tucson; Topawa Elementary, Topawa; San Jose, Pisinemo; St. Francis and Immaculate Conception, Yuma, all of Arizona; Cathedral, Honolulu, Hawaii. She served as a reading consultant at St. Christopher, West Covina, California. Sister Alice Marie was a faculty member and Special Education Clinic Director at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She performed various services at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Since 2008, she had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center, Manitowoc.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Marlyn and Marie (McLaughlin) Hickok; sister (brother-in-law): Phyllis (Roman) Kobringer; and brother (sister-in-law): Keith (Karen) Hickok.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass will be the Rev. Gerald Prusakowski, OFM, with burial to follow at the Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.
