Sister Rosaire Pigeon, age 87 a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County.
The former Dorothy Ann Pigeon was born on June 12, 1938, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Norman J. Pigeon and Catherine T. (Hart) Pigeon. She entered the convent in 1952 and professed her vows in 1957. Sister Rosaire earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Music History through UW-Madison, Madison, Wisconsin.
Sister Rosaire’s years of ministry were spent teaching classroom music and giving piano, guitar, accordion, violin, and organ lessons wherever she served. Her ministry took her to St. Therese, Appleton; St. Mary, Waukesha; Holy Family Conservatory, Manitowoc; St. Mary, Kaukauna; Sacred Heart, Oshkosh; Holy Family, Green Bay, all in Wisconsin; St. Francis, Manistique, Michigan; Guardian Angels, West Point, Nebraska; and Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Arizona. While residing at Chiara Convent and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, she was a music instructor at Holy Family Conservatory of Music and continued her ministry as a Musician for Liturgies. Since 2022 Sister Rosaire had resided in St. Rita Health Center and was a member of the Community’s Prayer Apostolate.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; brothers: Tom Pigeon, Jerry Pigeon, and David Pigeon; sister: Carol Boers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Norman and Catherine (Hart) Pigeon; and sister-in-law: Kathy Pigeon.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:15 am on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc, with burial to follow at the Holy Family Convent Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.
