Sondra Sue (Slight) Short

Sondra Sue Short, 85, of Plymouth passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at her home.

Sondra was born on June 10, 1940 in Creston, IA to Audra and Iva (Lovell) Slight. She was a graduate of Altoona High School in Des Moines, IA. On November 14, 1959 she married Glenn Short Jr., he preceded her in death on April 9, 1999. Sondra was a devoted wife, mother and grandma who took pride in raising her family and being her husband’s caretaker for several years. Sondra also enjoyed the years she worked as a kindergarten teacher. Sondra loved crafting,  quilting, cross stitching, reading her bible, and cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sondra is survived by her children: Glenn Short III, Robert (significant other Sara Laures) Short, Diana (Mark) Van Kleeck, Daniel Short, and Lori (Leo) Williams; daughter-in-law: Cindy Short; grandchildren: Heather (significant other Michael ) Short, John (Hannah) Opala, Leo (significant other Mia) Williams III, Luke (Miranda) Williams, Kimberly Opala, David Short, Levi Williams, Haley Short, Brandy Short, and Makayla (Jonathan) Mulkey; great-grandchildren: Haiden, Landon, Connor, Elias, and Ryleigh; three brothers and one sister: Richard (Mary) Slight, Theresa Gage, Larry (Jenny) Slight, and Donald Slight; and sister-in-law: Jackie (Cliff) Fischer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sondra was preceded in death by her parents: Audra and Iva Slight; step-mom: Cora Slight; husband: Glenn Short Jr.; two children: David Short, and Brian (Karen) Short; grandchildren: Cole, Madison, and Brooklyn; brother: Dean Slight; parents-in-law: Glenn Short Sr. and Evelyn (Willard) Brott; and brother-in-law: Fred Gage.

A funeral service to celebrate Sondra’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Gorton officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Sondra will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
