Obituary

Stephen G. Kornely, age 62, of rural Whitelaw died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side following a battle with cancer.

Steve was born July 26, 1959, in Two Rivers, a son of the late James and Cecelia (Shekoski) Kornely Sr. He grew up in Two Rivers and was a graduate of Roncalli High School in 1977. On July 16, 1983, Steve was married to Janet Schmidt at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He worked for Manitowoc Ice, retiring in 2020 due to illness. Steve enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, and studying music history.

Survivors include his wife: Janet Kornely, Whitelaw; one daughter and son-in-law: Amber (Lucas) Schroeder, Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law: Fran (Sue) Kornely, Two Rivers; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Mary Weaver and Herb Zimmerman, Portage, Barbara Kornely, CA, Patricia (Terry) Kakuk, Two Rivers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Jeff (Terry) Reichard, Manitowoc, Gloria (John) Reis, NM, Mary Isaacson, Manitowoc, Susan (Thomas) Phillip, Neenah, Brenda (Keith) Johnson, Valders, Julie (Guy) Dehne, Newton, Ann (Tim) Klein, Manitowoc, John Schmidt, Valders, Joe (Doreen) Schmidt, Valders, Kathy Lorenz, Chilton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Cecelia Kornely Sr; one infant brother; one brother: James Kornely Jr; one sister: Ann Reichard; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gordon and Monica Schmidt- Pivonka; his step father-in-law: Harold “Bud” Pivonka; one brother-in-law: Gordon Schmidt; one sister-in-law: Marjorie Schmidt-Zajdel; and his special dog friend: Fidget.

A family celebration of life will happen at a later date. Cremation will occur at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc.  The family would like to extend a thank you to all their family and friends for their love and support.
