Susan A. (Scherer) Thorne

Susan A. Thorne, 67, of Manitowoc, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at her residence.

Susan was born on August 18, 1955 in Manitowoc, to the late Homer and Grace (Wood) Scherer. She attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1973 from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On May 27, 1988 she married Tyrone Thorne in Manitowoc. Susan was employed at Walmart for many years until her retirement in 2020. She was a member of White Paws German Shepherd Rescue.

Susan is survived by her husband: Ty Thorne, Manitowoc; five children: Amy Arpin, VA, Graham Dondlinger, VA, Nick Dondlinger, Greenville, Stephanie (Travis) Herman, Two Rivers, and Zach (Lauren) Thorne, Sun Prairie; six grandchildren: Elijah (Mandi) Bahrke, Door County, Sydney Dondlinger, VA, Nora Dondlinger, Greenville, Marin Dondlinger, Greenville, Ciara Herman, Two Rivers, Owen Herman, Two Rivers, and Eli Herman, Two Rivers; One brother and sister-in-law: Mike (Sherry) Scherer, Manitowoc; one sister: Chris Hansen, Manitowoc; mother-in-law: Connie Thorne, Neenah; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wade (Cori) Thorne, Kellnersville, Ted (Jane) Thorne, Cooperstown, Wendy (John) Orlopp, Francis Creek, Kris (Steve) Graczyk, Maribel, Tim (Lisa) Thorne, Little Chute, Victoria Thorne, Neenah; two German Shepherds: Honey, and Taila; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Homer and Grace Scherer; father-in-law: Pat Thorne; two brothers: Pat Scherer, and Bill Scherer.

There will be a celebration of life to honor Susan on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Lakeshore Life Celebration Center, 3613 Waldo Blvd., from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
