Virginia L Dowty age 87 of the Town of Sherman passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Compassionate Heights of Beechwood.
Virginia was born Aug 17, 1938 in Plymouth Wisconsin to Martin and Golda (Degnitz) Klein. On June 27, 1959 Virginia married Eugene T Dowty at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Scott. Virginia farmed with her husband in the Town of Sherman beginning in 1964, which was known for its meandering white blanket of chickens, ducks and geese on the hill. She also worked various jobs outside the farm including Avon, H&R Block, and Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran in Adell.
Virginia is survived by her daughters: Kimberly Johnson of Waldo and Patricia (Bo) Matiss of Jacksonville FL, and son Martin (Heather) of Andover MA; ten grandchildren: Melissa (Marquardt), Stephanie, Crystal, Holly, and Kayla Johnson; Robert, Christina (Hudson), and Jennifer Matiss; and Emma and Alan Dowty; and ten great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Benjamin, Seth, Kadence, Hannah, Natalie, Jacob, Malachi, Anastasia, and Karolina. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, and brother Harold Klein.
A funeral service for Virginia will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Adell with Rev. Paul Marks officiating. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church, 326 Center Avenue, Adell on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
