Virginia “Ginnie” Hoskins Obituary

Virginia “Ginnie” Rose Hoskins, age 88, of Manitowoc, WI passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ginnie was born on July 28, 1936, in Boscawen, NH, a daughter of the late Everett and Susan (Eagles) Barton. Her step-father, Leon Michaud, was a positive influence in her life and others in the family.  She grew up in Loudon, NH, and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She lived in Kentucky for a short time with her husband, Lou. They moved to Laconia where she lived until she moved to Wisconsin in 2021.

Ginnie worked as a computer programmer for Sprague Electric for over 20 years and retired from there. She was married to Louis Hoskins in 2006 in Pembroke, NH and he preceded her in death in 2013. Ginnie and Lou enjoyed RV camping and spent a lot of time traveling and meeting fellow RV campers.

Ginnie loved life, enjoyed a variety of music, and had a great sense of humor. As the youngest of 5 children, she held her own as she had to keep up with her older brothers. As an adult, she loved family gatherings and treasured the times when she was able to see her Kentucky relatives. She was always up for a game of cards and loved playing cribbage. Her homemade apple pie was the best!

Survivors include one son and two daughters-in-law: Wayne (Shirley) Blanchard, Mishicot, WI; Lisa Blanchard, Prospect, KY; one daughter: Debra Rose Lawrence, Laconia, NH; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one brother: Forrest Barton, Epsom, NH; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; one son: Daniel Blanchard; one sister: June Audet; two brothers: George Barton and Everett Barton Jr.

The family is thankful for the excellent care Ginnie received while she was at Meadow View Assisted Living in Two Rivers, WI and later Manitowoc Health & Rehab Center in Manitowoc, WI.

Cremation has taken place at the All Care Cremation Center, and the burial of her cremated remains will take place at the Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord, NH at a later date.
